Action on anti-social Abbots tenants

10.01.00pm GMT Sun 18th Mar 2007

Action by Three Rivers council has led to an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) against an Abbots Langley tenant and her 18 year old son. The council was also granted a possession order, which will be enforced if the tenant continues to behave badly.

The tenant and her son have promised not to damage the council's property, or to behave antisocially towards neighbours in the flats or outside.

The judge praised the council for its efforts in gathering the evidence needed, and also praised the neighbours for their courage in giving statements. The judge stated that the case was very serious and that the council had no option but to take the action that it did to stop the anti-social behaviour that was being suffered by residents.

Cllr Matthew Bedford said, "The council will always act against anti-social behaviour, but we need the evidence and support of neighbours. Here the residents were brave enough to ensure that the council could act".
