Unauthorised car boot sale cancelled

6.05.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 30th Mar 2007

Prompt action from Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst has led to an unauthorised car boot sale planned for Leavesden Country Park being cancelled today.

An eagle-eyed resident called Stephen to ask if the event had council permission, Stephen had not previously heard of the advertised sale. The proposal had not been discussed at the YMCA Management Committee of which Cllr Sue Bartrick is a member.

Not only had the YMCA decided to use the council owned car park for the sale, they had also told users of the gym to park in roads such as Linnet Road.and Harlech Road! Stephen quickly established out that Three Rivers had not given permission and the YMCA was told that the event could not go ahead.
