LibDems urge residents to save money and save the environment12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 3rd Apr 2007
Local LibDem councillors are urging Abbots Langley residents to utilise the information contained within the 'Save Money, Save the Environment' guide, posted to all homes last month. With the book is a voucher for a free energy-saving light bulb. The bulb is worth £2.50 and will last up to 12 times longer than a normal light bulb. Over its lifetime, the bulb will save around £100 in electricity costs. The free bulb can be collected from the Parish Council offices in Langley Road. Frail or housebound residents can call 01923 776611 and ask for a bulb to be delivered to their home. Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst said, "This is a really helpful booklet, with lots of ideas on how residents can do a little bit to help the environment and save money for themselves - you can't lose! For instance, insulating your hot water tank can save around £50 per year on your fuel bills, whilst a baby using real nappies will cost £500 less than one using disposables".
