Councillor Keith Peutherer has brought a post box back to School Mead

Hillside residents will have been pleased to see that the School Mead post box has reappeared on a temporary basis, close to its original site.

As reported previously in this newsletter, Cllr Keith Peutherer has worked to ensure that Hillside residents do not have to wait until the completion of the School Mead redevelopment for the return of their post box.

Keith was pleased that, after six months of pushing Royal Mail, his efforts have achieved this result. He said "I was amazed that a temporary replacement box was not provided when the post-box was removed last year.

"It has been a long process of communicating with the Royal Mail, hearing various justifications for inertia ranging from Christmas post stops all other action to ignorance of where pipes and cables might be. "I am grateful to Julie Munro of Hertfordshire Highways who responded positively when I asked her for assistance."
