Tenants receive details of housing ballot

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 16th May 2007

By now all Three Rivers tenants should have received the draft Offer Document setting out full details of the Council's proposal to transfer council housing to Thrive Homes. The document is legally binding on the Council - so if tenants vote in favour when they are balloted in the summer, they will know exactly what they can expect!

Because of the Government's funding rules, Three Rivers tenants can benefit from millions of pounds extra funding every year if they agree to transfer to a housing association. After consulting with local tenants, Three Rivers has set up Thrive Homes, a new housing association just for this area, with local tenants on the Board taking decisions affecting homes.

Cllr Matthew Bedford said, "I urge tenants to read the document and ask for any further information they feel that they need, before making a decision about the future of their home". The Offer Document was posted on 6th May and the consultation period runs for 6 weeks, ending on 15th June 2007.
