Local schools top recycling competition

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 8th Jul 2007

Local schools took most of the prizes in a 'Yellow Woods' competition, run earlier this year. Organised by Three Rivers council, with the publishers of Yellow pages and the Woodland Trust, the aim was to collect the greatest number of old Yellow Pages after the publication of the new directory. The books were then sent for recycling to a specialist plant, where the yellow dye can be dealt with. Yellow Pages cannot be placed in recycling boxes..

First prize, and the Gold Oak award, was won by St. Paul's JMI, Langleybury. They also won £300 and a 'seeds to trees' kit. Tanners Wood JMI came third, also winning £100 and a seed kit, whilst Divine Saviour came 5th and won a seed kit.

Congratulations to all local schools for doing so well!
