Cllr David Major has pressed for improvements to the village car park to improve safety and security

After a request from the local LibDem team, the Three Rivers Community Safety Partnership has agreed find the money to improve the lighting in the main village car park behind the top of Abbots Road and Causeway House.

After a spate of criminal damage to cars earlier in the year, some shoppers and staff had become worried about leaving their vehicles in the car park, particularly if they needed to return after dark. The proposed lighting will improve security for all users.

A detailed scheme will be developed that avoids light affecting neighbouring homes but still provides a safe environment in the car park and the access road to the High Street.

Cllr David Major said "I am pleased that the Partnership listened to the evidence and hope that this will avoid problems here in the future."
