M25 'experiment' to end

12.00.00am GMT Mon 26th Nov 2007

As a result of a campaign started in January by Leavesden LibDem councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst, the government have instructed the Highways Agency to end the controversial traffic experiment at junction 19. The scheme narrowed the long slip road and caused tailbacks to the Hunton Bridge roundabout every morning.

But although the scheme has been given the thumbs down, the cones may not be removed until next year. Worse still, the narrowed slip road may return when the M25 is widened.

"Whilst we are all delighted that the scheme will go I wonder why its taken our MP so long to lobby the government on this and for the government to make a decision," said Cllr Sara Bedford.
