Three Rivers District Council has agreed to fund a park ranger for the Leavesden Country Park. The ranger will be employed for an initial two year period, paid for from the funds held by the council for the future maintenance of the park.

The decision follows the public consultation on a management plan for the park and requests from local LibDem councillors for action to improve the park.

Cllr Sue Bartrick, who proposed this measure, said, "Having someone full time looking after the park, ensuring it is maintained on a daily basis will not only help reduce vandalism, but will be a focal point for the community and in the long term could save the council money. I hope that it will be a success and we can retain someone long term."

The post will now be advertised with hope of getting someone in place for late Spring or early summer.

In the meantime new Interpretation boards giving some history of the area have been installed and the paths from the lower car park to the roundabout have been resurfaced.
