A by-election will be held to fill the vacant post in Leavesden ward. The vacancy was caused by the death of Cllr Betty O'Neill.

The by-election has been called by the Labour Party. Local LibDem agent, Cllr Sara Bedford said, "It is strange that Labour have called the by-election, as they have not bothered to stand in Leavesden in Parish Council elections since the last millennium!

If the election is contested, it will be held on Thursday 27th March. By law, it cannot be combined with the usual May local elections.
