Lamp post fiasco hits local roads

5.34.02pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 4th Apr 2008

Local LibDem councillors have asked the county council why so many lamp posts across the area are waiting to be reconnected by energy company EDF.

Cllr David Major said, "I believe that the county council does not have a formal contract with EDF. So we have to wait until EDF have the time to reconnect the lampposts before our streetlights can be working properly. We have asked for this issue to be brought up at a high level within the county council, so that it is fully addressed."

Are any lights near you not working properly? Please let one of your councillors know.
